TOKINA CINEMA 1.6x Expander

Converts Super35 lenses to cover Vista Vision

Tokina created a 1.6x Expander so that Cinematographers can use their favorite Super35 PL lenses on the latest full-frame 6k /8K cameras. the expander increases the diameter of image circle by 1.6x on super35 PL prime and Zoom lenses. This allows for a greater variety of lens choices when filming with cameras like the RED that has a 46.31mm 8K digital sensor.

Tokina engineers gave special attention to the 7 element optical design to ensure the integrity of the original lens performance and to keep fall of light off to a manageable 1.36 stops. The all mechanical design is robust, durable and lightweight.

The Tokina 1.6x Expander performs best when used with lenses that have a T2.0 or larger aperture and when the lens is stoped doen to T2.8 or smaller.

1.6x PL to PL: The Tokina 1.6x expander is compatible with PL mount lenses that have a clearance of less than 20mm from the PL mount tabs to the tip of the PL cone. The adapter includes a Clearance Check tool and is compatible with most Super35 or Super16 PL mount lenses that are 32mm and longer as well as most zoom lenses. The lens being adapted must have the T Stop set to T2 or higher (up to T22) for optimal image performance.

1.6x EF to PL: This adapter is compatible with EF mount lenses that have a clearance of less than 20mm from the EF mount base to the tip of the EF bayonet. It is not compatible with most EF-S series lenses. The lens being adapted must have the T Stop set to T2 or higher (up to T22) for optimal image performance.
